JC Penney, Avon Hit With Online Sales Suit

Law360, New York (June 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- J.C. Penney Corp. Inc., Victoria's Secret Stores Brand Management Inc. and Avon Products Inc. are among more than a dozen companies accused by Chicago-based e-commerce software company Soverain Software LLC of infringing three online sales patents.

Soverain, which in 2005 was paid $40 million by Amazon.com to settle an infringement suit over some of the same patents, filed the new suit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
