Judge Backs Md. Review Of Constellation Nuclear Deal

Law360, New York (July 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A state court judge has issued a ruling that will allow the Maryland Public Service Commission to continue investigating Constellation Energy Group Inc.'s proposed $4.5 billion sale of half its nuclear power assets to Electricite de France SA.

Last month, the PSC determined that EDF and Constellation must obtain commission authorization before closing their deal because it would give EDF substantial influence over Constellation utility unit Baltimore Electric & Gas Co.
