Amgen, Immunex Settle Ill. AWP Case For $7.8M

Law360, New York (July 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Amgen Inc. and subsidiary Immunex Corp. have agreed to pay $7.8 million to the state of Illinois to settle a lawsuit alleging the drug companies fraudulently published inflated average wholesale prices, resulting in overpayments by the state's Medicaid program.

The state attorney general's office announced the settlement Tuesday, although a settlement agreement and agreed orders approving the settlement and dismissals were filed June 30 in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
