Nuance Eyed Over Royal Philips Unit Buyout

Law360, New York (July 10, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly looking into Nuance Communications Inc.'s $96.1 million buyout of a unit of Royal Philips Electronics NV.

The DOJ spokesperson declined to comment on the nature of its investigation of the 2008 purchase by Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance of rival speech recognition software company Philips Speech Recognition Systems, Bloomberg reported.
