Conn. High Court Nixes State Bid To Toss Union Suit

Law360, New York (July 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A proposed class action brought by four individuals claiming Connecticut wrongfully fired 2,800 employees based on their union membership – and not because of economic pressures – will proceed after a high court on Wednesday rejected the state's second attempt to dismiss the case.

In a unanimous opinion, the Supreme Court of Connecticut threw out the state's appeal disputing a trial court's decision that denied the defendant's motion to dismiss the suit for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
