Auto Glass Vendors Top Insurers In Minn. High Court

Law360, New York (July 17, 2009, 5:08 PM EDT) -- Auto insurance policyholders are allowed to transfer certain recovery rights to auto glass vendors, Minnesota's top court has ruled, turning aside a challenge by several insurers and reversing a lower court.

An anti-assignment clause in an auto insurance policy does not prevent insured policyholders from assigning to auto glass vendors the right to arbitrate disputes over auto glass claims, the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

The issues in the appeal arose from four district court cases between auto glass vendors and insurance companies.
