High Court Rulings Spark Talk Of New Civil Rights Act

Law360, New York (July 21, 2009, 7:16 PM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court's return to pro-employer form in its latest term has raised the ire of some Democratic lawmakers — and raised the prospect of the first major overhaul of the Civil Rights Act since 1991, according to experts.

The justices wrapped up the term with five major labor and employment rulings, only one of which constituted a clear win for employees. The lasting impact of the decisions is not yet clear, lawyers said, but certain of the rulings look ripe for congressional scrutiny....
