Senate Panel Clears FCC Nominees

Law360, New York (July 21, 2009, 9:36 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce on Tuesday approved the Obama administration’s nominees, Republican Meredith Attwell Baker and Democrat Mignon L. Clyburn, for the two remaining top positions at the Federal Communications Commission.

Baker and Clyburn were confirmed by the committee, paving the way for the full Senate to vote on their appointment to the five-member commission.

The committee’s chairman, John Rockefeller, D-W.V., is reportedly aiming to confirm the pair before the Senate breaks for its August recess.
