Law Firms Struggle To Retain Minority Women

Law360, New York (July 22, 2009, 10:46 PM EDT) -- More than three-quarters of female minority attorneys at U.S. law firms will quit their jobs within five years due to challenges in moving up to partner and other leadership positions, according to a report by a women’s research organization.

Catalyst, which released its report Tuesday, found that minority women face unique barriers in law firms that may significantly lower their job satisfaction and increase their chances of walking out the door — a trend the report said could have major costs for law firms.
