Teva Settles Patent Spat Over Ortho Tri-Cyclen

Law360, New York (July 24, 2009, 1:54 PM EDT) -- Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has reached an agreement to settle patent infringement claims lodged against one of its subsidiaries by Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals Inc. over a generic version of the popular birth control pill Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.

The settlement of the suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, will not become effective until the court enters a proposed consent judgment upholding the validity and enforceability of Ortho’s patent, Teva said in a news release Friday.
