Bill Would Require Every Employer To E-Verify

Law360, New York (July 24, 2009, 12:34 PM ET) -- Virtually every employer in the U.S. could be required to implement the government's E-Verify system for confirming current and future employees' immigration statuses within five years, under a bill introduced in the U.S. Senate by Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark.

Pryor delivered the proposal on Thursday as part of a three-pronged immigration reform bill, the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act, which was introduced concurrently in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Heath Shuler, D-N.C. and more than 50 co-sponsors.
