USPTO Confirms KCI Wound Therapy Patents

Law360, New York (July 24, 2009, 4:27 PM ET) -- Dealing a blow to Kinetic Concepts Inc.'s rivals in the medical device market, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has confirmed the validity of three of the company's patents related to vacuum assisted wound treatment technologies.

Re-examination proceedings at the USPTO have left little doubt about the validity of the three patents regularly at the center of litigation with medical technology competitors like Smith & Nephew Inc. and Medela AG, KCI announced Friday.
