Novartis Bests Defect Claims In Trileptal Suit

Law360, New York (July 31, 2009, 3:38 PM EDT) -- With a court’s dismissal of certain liability claims, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. has gained the upper hand over allegations that its epilepsy treatment Trileptal caused an Ohio woman to develop serious health problems.

On Thursday, Judge Herman J. Weber of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio scrapped allegations that defects in Novartis' Trileptal led plaintiff Amanda Frey's multiorgan hypersensitivity and multiple related complications.
