DLA Piper Delays Start Dates, Fall Recruiting Efforts

Law360, New York (July 27, 2009, 8:54 PM ET) -- Continuing this month’s hiring trend, DLA Piper is the latest major firm to inform summer associates that they cannot start work until January 2011 — at the earliest — as a result of yet another incoming associate class that exceeds an unsteady demand for legal services.

In addition to deferring its current summer associates, DLA will also delay recruiting for next year’s summer program, according to a memorandum sent to law school deans and career service officers and posted Monday on legal tabloid Above the Law....
