New Acting Chairman Appointed To PCAOB

Law360, New York (August 3, 2009, 6:45 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed one-time Baker & McKenzie LLP attorney Daniel L. Goelzer to serve as acting chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, which supervises the accounting firms that audit public companies.

Goelzer, whose new position became effective on Saturday, said he would try to provide continuity and stability at the agency. He takes over for Mark Olson, who has served as chairman of the PCAOB for the past three years.
