JCM Denied $3M In Fees In Mars Gaming Patent Feud

Law360, New York (July 31, 2009, 1:18 PM EDT) -- Japan Cash Machine Co. Ltd. has been denied nearly $3 million in attorneys' fees, the latest multimillion-dollar decision in the company’s long-running dispute with candy giant Mars Inc. over gaming-related patents.

A case between Mars, its subsidiary MEI Inc. and JCM does not warrant a grant of exceptional case status in favor of defendant JCM, Judge Robert Kugler of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey said in an order issued Thursday.
