Schmidt's Exit Won't End FTC Probe Of Apple, Google

Law360, New York (August 3, 2009, 5:51 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. CEO Eric Schmidt resigned from Apple Inc.'s board of directors on Monday, three months after the Federal Trade Commission launched a probe into whether overlap between the companies' boards violated federal antitrust laws, but the FTC has said its investigation will continue.

Apple said Monday that Schmidt was stepping down because the companies are increasingly competing with one another, with Google launching its own Internet browser and cell phone operating system.
