DOE Grants $377M For Renewable Energy Research

Law360, New York (August 7, 2009, 4:00 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Energy has delivered $377 million in funding to universities, national laboratories, nonprofit organizations and private firms for a new initiative to start 46 research centers devoted to renewable energy.

The Energy Frontier Research Centers established under the DOE program will be run for an initial period of five years, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said Thursday. The DOE plans to commit a total of $777 million in funding over the five-year run, Chu said.
