Alaskan Lawmakers Override Palin's Stimulus Veto

Law360, New York (August 11, 2009, 11:57 AM EDT) -- The Alaska State Legislature has voted to accept $28.6 million in federal funds for energy efficiency projects and alternative energy development in the state, overriding recently departed Gov. Sarah Palin's veto nixing the money from Alaska's stimulus package.

State lawmakers scraped together the three-fourths majority in both houses required to overturn an executive veto, voting 45-14 during a special legislative session convened Monday to authorize funds allocated for efficiency upgrades and consumer energy-price relief under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
