Sony Faces Multiple Suits Over Faulty HDTV Claims

Law360, New York (August 17, 2009, 4:23 PM ET) -- Sony Corp. has been hit with a consolidated proposed class action filed by dozens of consumers who accuse the company of knowingly selling high-definition TV sets whose picture quality deteriorates within a year of purchase.

Forty-five individuals filed an amended complaint on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, claiming Sony, Sony Corp. of America Inc. and Sony Electronics Inc. distributed the HDTVs despite the knowledge of a fatal problem with the models' “optical block.”
