EEOC Slaps AT&T With Age Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (August 20, 2009, 5:46 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a federal court suit accusing telecommunications giant AT&T Inc. of discriminating against older workers by refusing to rehire retirees.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York the agency says AT&T instituted a policy in 2006 barring the rehiring of workers who retired under the company's Enhanced Pension and Retirement Program, Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program, and other severance programs.
