Brake Issues Lead Toyota To Recall Scions, Matrixes

Law360, New York (August 26, 2009, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. announced a voluntarily recall Wednesday of equipment in nearly 96,000 vehicles nationwide that could lead to brake malfunctions in cold weather.

Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that certain 2009 and 2010 model year Toyota Corolla and Corolla Matrix and 2008 and 2009 Scion xD vehicles, all equipped with 1.8-liter engines, could be vulnerable to water freezing in the brake system vacuum port, leading to lengthened vehicle stopping distances.
