Versata Scores $139M Verdict In Software Patent Row

Law360, New York (August 27, 2009, 12:53 PM EDT) -- A jury has awarded Versata Software Inc. nearly $139 million on its claims that SAP America Inc.'s Business Suite software infringes two of Versata's patents for pricing software — a decision SAP expects to appeal, a spokesman for the company said Thursday.

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas sided with Versata on its infringement claims Wednesday and rejected SAP's attempts to invalidate the two patents.

Overall, the court awarded Versata more than $138.64 million in damages.
