Construction Firm Settles Race Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (October 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Ohio construction company accused of illegally firing black carpenters and replacing them with inexperienced latino workers has settled a race discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

As part of the settlement, Mason, Ohio-based Cleveland Construction Inc. agreed to pen an anti-harassment policy, institute anti-discrimination training for its supervisors and pay nearly $94,000 in compensatory damages and back pay.
