Design Defect Suit Over Ford F-250 Preempted: Court

Law360, New York (August 28, 2009, 4:59 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed a product liability suit a Georgia couple brought against Ford Motor Co. after the F-250 pickup truck they were riding in was involved in a seven-vehicle collision in 2005.

Judge Harold L. Murphy of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia ruled Thursday that the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard preempted the main design defect claim, and granted Ford summary judgment.
