JCM Seeks ‘Exceptional’ Ruling In Mars Patent Spat

Law360, New York (August 31, 2009, 1:15 PM EDT) -- Japan Cash Machine Co. Ltd. is appealing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit the denial of nearly $3 million in attorneys’ fees in a long-running dispute with candy conglomerate Mars Inc. over gaming-related patents.

Filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, JCM’s notice of appeal seeks to overturn a July 30 order that ruled the case was not exceptional and did not warrant granting attorneys' fees.
