Jackson Hewitt Seeks To Nix H&R Block Patent Suit

Law360, New York (August 31, 2009, 12:58 PM EDT) -- Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. has asked a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit brought by H&R Block Tax Services Inc. accusing the rival tax preparation company of infringing two patents related to loading clients' refund anticipation loan proceeds onto prepaid Visa cards.

The defendant filed a motion for summary judgment Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, saying the the wording in the suit is wrong and should render the claims invalid.
