Gender History Professor Sues Ohio U. For Sex Bias

Law360, New York (September 2, 2009, 12:42 PM EDT) -- The first European women's and gender history professor hired by Ohio University's history department is suing the university for sex discrimination, saying her colleagues retaliated against her because she openly criticized conventional male scholarship.

Benita Blessing filed suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, asking the court to reinstate her as a full-time, tenure-track professor and to award damages for pain, suffering, and harm to her professional and personal reputation.
