Nu-West Wants US To Pay $10M For Mine Cleanup

Law360, New York (September 3, 2009, 1:34 PM EDT) -- Nu-West Industries Inc. has called the U.S. government “incompetent” in its oversight of the Idaho mining company's efforts to clean up four historic phosphate mines, and is seeking to recoup more than $10 million it's already spent on the job.

Nu-West filed suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, saying it had to spend the millions to clean up selenium pollution that poisoned animals over the years, including five horses that had to be euthanized.
