Green Groups Fight Grand Canyon Uranium Mining

Law360, New York (September 9, 2009, 1:10 PM EDT) -- The Center for Biological Diversity and two other groups have notified the U.S. government of their intent to sue to stop it from allowing uranium mining at a long-closed mine in Arizona, saying operations could hurt imperiled species.

On Tuesday, the Center for Biological Diversity, Grand Canyon Trust and Sierra Club sent federal agencies a 60-day notice of intent to sue the U.S. Bureau of Land Management over alleged environmental violations related to the Arizona 1 mine near the Grand Canyon.
