CSIRO Hits Sony, Acer With New WiLAN Patent Suits

Law360, New York (September 10, 2009, 1:54 PM EDT) -- Australian national research agency the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization has launched a new round of litigation over its patent for wireless local area network technology, targeting Acer Inc., Sony Corp. and Lenovo Group Ltd.

In three separate suits filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, CSIRO accused the technology giants of willfully infringing its patent and asked the court for enhanced damages.
