VW To Get Customs Refund For Post-Entry Duties

Law360, New York (September 11, 2009, 3:10 PM EDT) -- Volkswagen of America Inc. stands to receive a refund from U.S. Customs and Border Protection now that the agency has agreed to re-examine the value of dozens of the automaker's imports from 2003.

The CBP filed a stipulated final judgment Thursday in the U.S. Court of International Trade and agreed to refund VW about $412,000, with interest, for overcharges in duties the company incurred because of an inadvertent computer glitch in 2002.
