EEOC Targets Supervalu In New ADA Class Action

Law360, New York (September 11, 2009, 4:31 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has hit grocery chain Supervalu Inc. with a putative class action that claims the company's leave and disability policies violate federal anti-discrimination laws.

The complaint was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on behalf of five individuals and a similarly situated class. It names the grocery wholesaler and its operating unit Jewel-Osco, the Midwestern division of Albertson's Inc., which Supervalu acquired in 2006.
