Allstate To Pay $4.5M To Settle EEOC Age Bias Suit

Law360, New York (September 14, 2009, 2:58 PM EDT) -- Allstate Insurance Co. has agreed to a $4.5 million settlement with about 90 former employees who accused the company of age discrimination, resolving a five-year court battle with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The EEOC sued Ill.-based Allstate in October 2004 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri over an employment policy that prohibited more than 6,300 sales agents let go as part of a company reorganization from being rehired for at least a year.
