Apple Claims Tossed In Elan Touch-Screen Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 15, 2009, 2:17 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed Apple Inc.'s counterclaims accusing Elan Microelectronics Corp. of infringing three patents in a dispute over touch-screen technology, but has granted Apple the chance to amend its “threadbare” allegations.

Judge Richard Seeborg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California handed down the ruling Monday, tossing Apple's counterclaims for patent infringement and telling the computer giant to file its amended complaint within 20 days.
