Olympus Sued Over Tiny Endoscopy Cameras

Law360, New York (October 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Japanese imaging company Olympus Corp. has been accused of patent infringement in a countersuit filed by a small Israeli rival, Given Imaging Ltd., expanding the companies’ duel over imaging patents for medical devices.

The counterclaims, filed Oct. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, accuse Olympus of infringing four patents covering features of capsule endoscopes—tiny cameras swallowed by patients to diagnose digestive disorders.
