House Panel Approves Satellite Broadcasting Bill

Law360, New York (September 16, 2009, 5:40 PM EDT) -- A House panel has unanimously approved a measure aimed at extending the compulsory copyright licenses that allow cable and satellite television operators to retransmit television signals.

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday unanimously reported H.R. 3570, the Satellite Home Viewer Update and Reauthorization Act of 2009, pushing the legislation a step closer to passage by the full House. The measure passed by a 34-0 vote in the full committee.
