Canrig Sues Omron, Helmerich Over Oil Drill Patent

Law360, New York (September 17, 2009, 3:11 PM EDT) -- Houston-based Canrig Drilling Technology Ltd. has accused two defendants of infringing its patent for a computerized system that controls the rotation of a drill string, which attaches a drill motor to a drill bit.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, says Omron Oilfield & Marine Inc. and Helmerich & Payne Inc.'s acts of infringement have caused Canrig irreparable harm.
