SD Bank Wins Injunction In Service Marks IP Suit

Law360, New York (September 18, 2009, 6:44 PM ET) -- A small family-owned bank has convinced a South Dakota federal court to broaden a 12-year-old injunction barring First National Bank South Dakota from using abbreviated versions of its name in areas where it could confuse customers.

In a judgment handed down Sept. 17 following a jury trial, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota ordered the bank to use only its full name and logo on all of its buildings and mailings within an 18-mile radius of the Sioux Falls, S.D., main office...
