Writers' 'Love Happens' Infringement Claims Flop

Law360, New York (September 18, 2009, 2:54 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has denied two screenwriters' bid to halt the release of NBC Universal Inc.'s latest movie "Love Happens," saying their suit — which claims the romantic comedy's screenplay was stolen from a script they had pitched to studio executives — appears to lack merit.

After the judge issued his decision, the plaintiffs submitted a notice announcing their intention to voluntarily dismiss their action without prejudice.
