Spectra Unit Gets $20M Pipeline Suit Tossed

Law360, New York (September 22, 2009, 3:59 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has dumped a $20 million lawsuit that claimed a Spectra Energy Corp. joint venture company turned a piece of private property, to which the company had bought easement rights for its natural gas pipeline, from a wooded homestead into a mud bog.

The case was closed out Monday after defendant Southeast Supply Header LLC, which is joint venture between Spectra and CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Inc., won its motion for summary judgment in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama....
