Generic Drug Makers Sue H. Lundbeck Over Cipramil Patent

Law360, New York (October 22, 2003, 12:00 AM ET) -- Danish generic drug makers United Nordic Pharma and Copyfarm and German generic drug maker Ratiopharm are suing Danish pharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck over the patent rights for the antidepressant drug Cipramil,Jyllands-Posten reported.

Lundbeck's European patents for Cipramil expired at the beginning of 2002, allowing generic drug makers to start producing and selling cheaper generic versions. Lundbeck has been fending off generic drug makers by taking out patents for Cipramil's production methods and by filing lawsuits for patent infringement on those patents.
