Novartis, 2 Generics Drop Lotrel Patent Lawsuits

Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 3:56 PM EDT) -- Novartis AG and two generic-drug makers have agreed to dismiss without prejudice a total of four patent lawsuits in which the U.S. arm of the Switzerland-based pharmaceutical giant had said applications to make generic versions of the hypertension drug Lotrel infringed its patent.

Thursday's dismissals, in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, released defendants — and counter-plaintiffs — Canada-based Cobalt Laboratories Inc. and India-based Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Inc. from the litigation over Lotrel, making them the generics manufacturers to find the exit....
