Prosecutors Seek 30 Years To Life For Hsu

Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 3:35 PM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors are requesting that infamous political donor Norman Hsu receive 30 years to life in prison for allegedly violating campaign finance laws and running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of more than $50 million.

In a sentencing memorandum filed Thursday, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York said the loss attributable to Hsu should be between $50 million and $100 million, or the amount of principal that Hsu did not repay to investors when his Ponzi scheme collapsed in...
