Disney Off Hook For Copyright Violation In Pooh Suit

Law360, New York (September 28, 2009, 1:41 PM EDT) -- Having already shot down Stephen Slesinger Inc.’s breach of contract counterclaims in an epic dispute with Disney Enterprises Inc. over royalties from the Winnie the Pooh franchise, a federal judge has tossed the remaining copyright infringement counterclaims.

Judge Florence-Marie Cooper of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Friday dismissed allegations that Disney’s exploitation of the Winnie the Pooh characters infringed Slesinger’s trademarks and copyrights, dropping the curtain on a battle now decades in the making.
