Law360, New York (September 29, 2009, 3:02 PM ET) -- A voter advocacy group has added its voice to calls for a federal antitrust investigation into Diebold Inc.'s sale of its voting machine business to competitor Election Systems & Software Inc., saying the deal “threatens the democratic process itself.”
The nonprofit organization Voter Action submitted a letter Monday asking the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division to look into the deal, which critics have estimated gives ES&S control of close to 70 percent of the U.S. market for election systems.
