Jury Finds Ex-Intermune CEO Guilty Of Wire Fraud

Law360, New York (September 30, 2009, 2:00 PM EDT) -- A federal jury has convicted pharmaceutical executive W. Scott Harkonen on a count of wire fraud but has acquitted the former InterMune Inc. chief on a count of misbranding a drug with intent to mislead customers.

Tuesday's verdict, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, came on a third day of deliberation and means the medical doctor faces up to 20 years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

The charge on which Harkonen was acquitted carried a far lighter, maximum three-year sentence....
