Telenor, Alfa End Feud, Agree To VimpelCom Deal

Law360, New York (October 5, 2009, 6:49 PM EDT) -- Norwegian telecommunications giant Telenor ASA has agreed to merge stock in two common holdings and bury the hatchet with Alfa Group's subsidiary Altimo.

The companies announced a deal to combine their common assets in OJSC VimpelCom and Kyivstar to create an emerging markets mobile operator, they said in a joint press release Monday.

The deal ends years of litigation between the two over VimpelCom, the second largest Russian telecommunications operator, and Kyivstar, Ukraine's biggest cell phone operator, according to a report in The New York Times....
