ITC OKs Probe In Patent Complaint Vs. CD/DVD Chip Makers

Law360, New York (April 10, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has voted to begin an investigation into whether some imports of chips used in DVD players and computer optical storage devices infringe on patents held by two California firms.

The complaint was filed by Zoran Corporation and Oak Technology, both of Sunnyvale, Calif., on March 11, under section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930m which prohibits imports of goods that violate patents held by U.S. companies.
