Manroland, Heidelberger Part Ways For Now

Law360, New York (October 12, 2009, 6:20 PM EDT) -- An anticipated union between German printing press manufacturer Manroland AG and rival Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG reportedly has been called off for the moment following months of speculation that thousands of jobs would be lost if the two companies paired up.

Manroland, the world’s second largest manufacturer of printing systems and the world’s market leader in web offset, walked away from talks regarding a potential merger after Heidelberger said Friday that its financial results likely would fall short of the company's expectations, Reuters reported Monday.
